    Role description

    Booking Holdings, Inc. (BHI) has developed a data-sharing operating model to facilitate cross-brand data sharing amongst BHI's brands (Booking.com, Priceline, Kayak, Agoda, OpenTable, Rentalcars). The Devops Engineer's primary role is to develop novel ways of secure data exchange for the organization. They would be responsible for the design and implementation of the solutions and long-term maintenance. Given the business critical value of the data, the Devops Engineer's work would entail investigating novel data-sharing approaches, such as data cleanrooms, and devising a practical implementation. They would also lead the effort for secure access control for large datasets.

    In addition, the Devops Engineer will partner with business owners and relevant implementation teams to work on translating business requirements to technical specifications, taking into account the best sensitive data and security practices.

    Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

    • Managing and extending the Snowflake integration with existing infrastructure, including AWS S3 and Okta.
    • Investigate novel data-sharing approaches, such as data cleanrooms, and devising a practical implementation.
    • Translate business requirements to technical and designing secure data sharing solutions.
    • Designing and implementing sustainable data exchange solutions and providing long-term maintenance.
    • Developing data processing pipelines based on software engineering best practices.
    • Institute Infrastructure-as-code deployment for the Snowflake and AWS platforms, as well as provide long-term deployment automation.
    • Utilize technical expertise to drive risk mitigation efforts to ensure platform compliance.
    • Lead the effort for secure access control for large dataset and support stakeholder onboarding.
    • Ensure architecture aligns with established governance, privacy & risk guidelines.
    • Identify, design and implement process, system and structural improvements.

    Role Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science or other engineering areas.
    • Prior experience working in cloud engineering and/or data engineering or a comparable data-oriented role is required. Greater than 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with written and verbal English.
    • Complex problem solving skills.
    • An ability to work independently.
    • Advanced experience with database systems, distributed computing, and big data technologies.
    • Data modeling knowledge to design, develop and maintain a scalable and efficient platform.
    • Practical experience with managing Snowflake deployments (knowledge of Snowflake Data Sharing is a plus).
    • Advanced experience with Snowflake access control (knowledge of Okta SSo is a plus).
    • Proficient with AWS, S3 and Parquet file management.
    • In depth experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably Terraform.
    • Design, develop, deploy and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for data platforms by using tooling such as git and Airflows.
